Amanda Harrington battling to become MP for Henley

LIVERPOOL model and ECHO columnist Amanda Harrington is battling it out to become MP for Henley.

The ECHO’s Six And The City writer is fighting for the seat formerly held by London Mayor Boris Johnson.

Amanda, from Aintree, will campaign on the Beauty for Britain manifesto adopted by the Miss Great Britain Party.

It wants to make Westminster and Britain a more glamorous place.

The 26-year-old said: “I am not a politician and I’ll be the first to admit that it is not my specialist subject.

“But I pride myself on being savvy and I can be hugely influential – especially with men.

“Besides, it is important to keep up the recent tradition of having a blonde MP in Henley.”

Single mother Amanda, who has a daughter Savannah, will campaign for tax relief on child care for working mums, fair pay for Britain’s armed forces and a new bank holiday to celebrate British beauty.

Amanda and model Louise Cole, 30, from West Sussex, are standing as dual candidates in the June 26 by-election - something the Miss Great Britain Party claims is an electoral first.
